Fried Oyster Omelette |
Fried Oyster Omelette from the shop we went to |
This dish was first made in China and then widely spread in the Asian countries. Oysters fried with (or in) an egg omelette. Served with a watery Chilli sauce and garnished with spring onions or coriander. Two main versions exist, one where the oysters are mixed in a flour paste to form a gooey sticky base and the other where it is just the oysters and the egg. The latter version is usually found at coffees hops and costs moreas the oysters are bigger .
Dish Origin : This dish originated in China.
Ingredients origin:
Eggs: Eggs came from chickens. Wild chickens seem to have been common in India and East Asia (China, Thailand, and Vietnam) long ago, and that is where chickens were first domesticated (tamed), maybe around 7000 BC.

Salt: Salt originated in United Kingdom, particularly in the Cheshire area.
Pepper: Black pepper is native to the Western Ghats of Kerala State, India, where it still occurs wild in the mountains.
Cold Water: Water originated on Earth and covers up nearly 75% of it.
The shop that we visited got their ingredients from different supermarkets and markets in Singapore.
Review
The hawker centre was clean compared to others that we have been to and
the place was not very crowded as we arrived a bit after the ‘peak period’. The
hawker acknowledged us kindly and spoke in Chinese to ask us for our
order. We ordered the Fried Oyster and soon had the chance to try it. The
Oyster would taste good to those who like salty foods that are strong in
taste. The oyster tasted of the sea and did not smell very fresh. They put a
little sauce to enlighten the dish, but sadly it did not help much. The eggs
and the oysters were salty and did not look appealing. Overall, we did not
really enjoy the dish.
